9/11” award May 18 in Braintree, Massachusetts.
In accordance with a national campaign of nominees sought out by both The Journal of Emergency Medical Services and American Medical Response, Garris was chosen to receive the award for his novel that pays tribute to the emergency medical technicians and paramedics who served in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Many of these individuals were Garris’ colleagues.
Presenting the “I Remember 9/11” award to Garris served a second purpose: it celebrated his twenty (20) years in public safety, seventeen (17) of which he has been a dedicated emergency medical services professional.
The award also recognized his devotion in the time of crisis following acts of terrorism in New York City and the spirit he continues to shine upon this often unrecognized profession.
Each May, a week is designated to honor emergency medical services personnel in the United States. National EMS Week is the ideal time to recognize how these men and women make a difference every day in the lives of their fellow Americans.American Medical Response began the tradition of holding celebrations that extended to all EMS and other public-safety professionals in the Northeast. In the presence of family, friends and dignitaries, the event serves as the ultimate occasion to honor and reward all public safety personnel for their dedicated commitment and courage.
The May 18 event drew an audience of hundreds, with the main address being given by Massachusetts Governor
Mitt Romney, who also chairs a committee for the Office of Homeland Security. To learn more about C.B Garris, his novel, his consulting corporation, and his life’s work, log onto:www.memberoftheservice.com and www.mosincorporated.com.
